Festival Gate Osaka - Roller Coaster of Death

Our jaws dropped in amazement when we saw the Festival Gate shopping centre in Osaka in midst of demolition. Most impressive is the torn and twisted remains of the roller coaster, it's spooky the way the track ends hanging in mid air. It gives the impression the place was closed after some horrific roller coaster accident, that's it's been vacant and haunted for years, but at night you can still hear the screams. The truth is less exciting, the place just went broke. Too much Scooby Doo...

The only way to get a picture was from the train. We made a special trip out here and caught the train back and forth between stations with only precious minutes left of daylight to try and get a good photo. We didn't come close to capturing the full  post apocalyptic impact of the scene on camera, but it was fun.

Front view from the street, notice how the track at the rear ends in mid air. Shame, it looked like a great ride.
