"Orlando - Everybody's Cat // 8.11.14". A fine salute to one of Enmore's great and many furry purry street greeters, they are special souls.

Redfern Max.

A very friendly pussycat from Little Everleigh Street who we dubbed Redfern Max, he's soft and friendly like everybody's favourite cat in Enmore.

Thank you gay man!

Letter to the gay man left on an apartment block porch in Newtown.

Mind boggles:

  1. What's in the letter?
  2. How could there be 'The' gay man in an apartment block in Newtown? There's no 'one gay person per apartment block' rule that I'm aware of.
  3. Maybe Gay Man is a super hero. In which case what heroic deed had he done to deserve a thank you letter?

Red October

Severe bushfires cast striking colours on Sydney, a surreal afternoon. I walk from Sydney Park in St Peters to Darling Harbour with jaw agape. No editing of photos apart from auto-brightness adjustment.

Being Ware

Counterfeit Aussie fifty dollar note stuck to the window at Foodworks Supermarket, Newtown.

A homemade doggy bag sign in Marrickville. We like how somebody has take a cheerful, positive approach to a stinky problem.

Hello Kitty

Two pussycats meet in the street and do a lap or two around a pot plant, it's like a slapstick routine. Is this the start of a turf war or a beautiful friendship?

Smelly cat what are they feeding you?

Why is it that the grubbiest cats are the ones keenest for a pat? This one even has dribble stains on his chin. We'll still pat him though. It's not his fault.

Sign of the times

A welcome sign in these hard times when every third shop in King Street Newton is a freaking frozen yoghurt joint.

Fat Cat of Chippendale

Mr Lardarsious J. Pussycat is often found outside The Rose Hotel in Chippendale, we think he might be the bouncer...

...and part of a motorcycle gang.

Cat fat neck roll. Tops.

Cyber Squatting

Some genius is selling domain names on rubbish bins in Newtown. Tops.

King of the Streets

A touching note taped to a fence on City Road, Chippendale.

I think this is Tiger, a very confident fellow we'd see now and again around the corner of City Road and Myrtle Street. He'd always engage in a bit of stop'n'chat but was never overly keen for a scratch, though he'd always accept. I remember him once sprawled out on the footpath blissed out in the sun, oblivious to the pedestrians stepping around him, and the six lanes of roaring traffic metres from his little fuzzy head.

Hail the King

We took a walk down Kirribilli way to see if Julia Gillard was home and met King Solomon the cat instead. Yes, that's his real name. He likes a pat and a bit of a dribble. Don't we all?

A hike over Sydney Harbour Bridge, a visit to Kirribilli markets, a waddle down to the Prime Minister's house, then back along the shoreline to have a beer overlooking the harbour at Luna Park. Killer walk.

His royal highness basking in the winter sun.

In the Cathouse

Love how this cat house gets it's own street number. It's the little things that make me love Newtown so much.

Pantene Pro

Would you get your hair cut here? This short lived hand drawn sign was in a Korean convenience store in Haymarket.

Miss Pixel J. Pussycat of Enmore will call with an anxious high pitched "meow meow meow" from her safety perch on a pergola. She will run then leap down onto the fence like it's a matter of life and death, and demand a scratch. When your patting arm tires she will do the scratching herself, doing a full twisting pussycat body rub precariously balanced on top of the fence. She's a bit of a neighbourhood favourite.

Blister in the sun

Blissing out in the autumn sun, Enmore.

More same-same street art under construction in Enmore. Can we have something different please? We've had to look at this stuff since the 1980's.

The Newtown Mattress

Whoever has been doing the sidewalk abandoned mattress graffiti around the inner west of late - we salute you.

Monday, April 29, 2013

Mr Tuxedo J Pussycat of Enmore is so blissed out that he rolls down the street rather than get up and walk a couple of metres to come and say hello.

He's a lovely fellow but don't you think he's a bit of a Kitler?

Max Hound

What's this happy looking fella been up to? (No doggy-style jokes, please). King Street, Newtown.

That guy's face just doesn't match his helmet...

Neko ichiban desu

The pussycats we met in a cat cafe in Tokyo...

Pussycats of January and a bit, 2012

I've been walking the same routes a lot lately so meeting the same pussycats. I do my best.

Taking time to smell the roses...

Lemme in!

Great big cat on a warm car roof, Newtown. Pat me if you must.

King Street's most spoilt shop cat.

I'm not even waking up for the pussycat paparazzi.

Action cat of Newtown, will leap letterboxes in a single bound if there's a free pat involved.

Even action heroes dribble.

This little black duck solicits pats from his apartment window, Newtown.

This one gets a blind left open so he can see the world go by.

Mr Billie J Pussycat of enmore, seems a bit poorly but very friendly.

My Stumpytail J Pussycat of Newtown\Enmore likes sleeping on the road.

What could be better than an afternoon nap?

A free scratch. Newtown\Enmore.

Oliver is a local celebrity.

He will always get up to say hello, and follow you down the road.

Get thee behind me Satan.

Cars were invented for cats to sleep under.

Mr Tink J Pussycat of Newtown likes a scratch.

He's a bit of a tart.

Oi, more pats!

Cat street art, Erskineville.

Mr Zebedee J Pussycat of Darlington.

Gotta play the lie down and be nonchalant game.

Off on a date.

Pussycat buddyies, Enmore.

Instant best friend. Possibly the most forceful pat tart I've met.

Serious pussycat business.

Another fine feline of Newtown\Enmore. She has a fancy diamonte collar so we call here Jeannie Little.

Scratch me happy.
